With the goal of changing the first impression of craft beer, SUNMAI Craft Brewery serves as one of the leading experts in the malt beer industry in Taiwan. The brewery believed that packaging should be just as important as the product, especially in competitive retail environments like Costco, and therefore sought a unique design solution.
Prior to working closely with HUEMON Design, the original packaging of Le Blé d’Or 1L beer consisted of an expensive insulation bag that completely covered the beautifully designed bottles and labels. This approach reduced brand exposure at retail locations and was inefficient in terms of packaging cost and material use.
After months of trial and refinement, HUEMON Design developed a custom “butterfly” carrier for the Le Blé d’Or 1L beer. Made from four 100% recyclable and deconstructable components, the design improves shipping efficiency, supports up to 4kg in weight, and reduces packaging materials and costs by 75%. It also allows the label to be fully visible, enhancing brand storytelling while promoting sustainability.
